Its the Thought that counts....

After contemplating on afew things
i notice there are some things my fellow friends do
i have a friend teik min who in one budhist society mtg went to chat
and at that time we saja wanted to do the transfer of merits chant
The chant was of course in Pali language
but there was also an english transalation for it
The thing that make me think was......
why are we chating it in pali????
arent we supose to understand what we are saying
instead of just blindly memorizing it??
Its like the subject moral
There is about no good in that subject what so ever
it useless....
what u do is memorize a bunch of nilai
word to word
and go do exam
because of this
many people end up copying in the subject
okok copying is anyway a norm for many people
but the point is
will it be any use to us??
i dont think so
same to the chanting
will it be any use to us if we just memorize the teachings
in a different language
a language which we will never have time to learn???
this is just my opinion so dont take it to heart because i might be wrong
Budhism is never a religion
Budhism is a teaching pass down to generations to help us
to release from sufferings
SO!!
if it is a teaching
arent we supose to understand what are we learning??
isnt that more important??
well to many people
they dont understand
thats why i am writing this
just because u want to chant whatever sutra
doesnt mean u have to chant it in the original language
u can always chant it in other language u understand in
AS LONG AS u transalate it corectly!!!
then it should be no problem
however i am not going to stop just here
i am going to bring this one step futher

ITS THE THOUGHTS THAT COUNTS

continuing from the subject above
lets just say...
we want to chant the transfer of merits sutra
so that every one can enjoy the fruits of our labour
HOWEVER!!!
what if that person is mute???
does it mean he cannot share his merits??
NO!!
he still can
because is all in ur HEAD
all you need to do
is just be sincere in what you want to do
then i believe ur merits will be shared to all
its the same for the opposite case
what if
you dont want to share your merits
but you are force to chant the sutra
does it mean u are being forced to share it
i dont think so.....
so what i am trying to say is
its all in your thoughts
as long as you are sincere
than you really dont need to chant anything at all
you just need to spend a few minuits
calming your mind
and send ur love to the world
